everyone there knew him, knew his flying capability. the big thing now is the weather. he knew weather could potentially be a problem but still took off. lots of unanswered questions. we ll find out what s going on. shimon, peter and miles, stand by. other major breaking news we re following tonight. the justice department has just agreed to give the house judiciary committee what s described as key evidence from the mueller investigation i want to bring in our congressional correspondent sunlen serfaty. how significant are these documents? reporter: pretty significant. democrats are calling this key evidence. some but not all of the underlying evidence that robert mueller collected over the course of his two-year long investigation, some information and documents that have been previous denied to the house judiciary committee. things like interview notes and firsthand accounts, according to
their review of the special counsel s findings with a plast of the president of presidential scandals, the house judiciary committee s chairman said the deal guarantee access to records about alleged obstruction by president trump. we reached agreement to review some of the under underlying the mueller report including interview notes. the democrats wanted testimony from former white house counsel don mcgahn who was directed not to cooperate citing executive privilege. returning to the traditional accommodation process. nadler said a resolution allowing democrats to sue in civil court is still moving ahead. it is my expectation that as a result of this authorization mr. mcgahn will testify here
special counsel findings. he lashed out at republicans that have said the rules in congress just don t allow for this kind of testimony because it doesn t have a legislative function. that work continues today. it continues at the department of justice later this afternoon. when this committee will begin to review the documents that attorney general barr previously denied us. i am pleased that we reached an agreement to review some of the evidence underlying the mueller report including interview notes, first hand accounts of misconduct and other critical evidence. this is not the end of the conflict. we re expecting tomorrow a vote, a resolution. it s not contempt but a resolution that will allow house democrats to pursue action in civilian courts in order to force compliance by the attorney general and don mcgahn with their subpoenas, neil.
