SMM data showed that the stocks rose 13,300 mt from the prior week to 358,600 mt as of Friday February 26.

Social inventories of long steel (including wire rods and rebar) in Guangzhou expanded 26.47%, or 464,200 mt, in the week ended February 24 to 2.22 million mt, showed SMM data. The stocks were 7.9% higher than the same period last year.

China HRC stocks across social warehouses and steel makers extended gains this week as steel mills kept normal production while end-user demand has yet to recover completely.

SMM data showed that aluminium billet stocks across the five major consumption areas — Foshan, Wuxi, Huzhou, Changzhou and Nanchang — in China built up 25,100 mt from a week ago to 239,300 mt as of Wednesday February 25.

Social inventories of primary aluminium ingots across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, increased 181,000 mt from last Thursday to 1.08 million mt as of February 25.

China steel rebar inventories slowed down the increase on week as the domestic market was in a state of complete stagnation in the same period last year, while the market demand recovered relatively quickly this year.

Social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, expanded 121,000 mt from last Thursday February 18 to 1.02 million mt mt as of February 22, and stocks in Wuxi, Nanhai and Gongyi mainly contributed to the increase.

SMM data showed that social inventories of refined zinc ingots across Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Hebei increased 27,900 mt from last Thursday February 18 to 252,400 mt as of Monday February 22. The stocks were up 85,300 mt from February 10.

Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin expanded 1,100 mt from last Thursday February 18 to 44,500 mt as of Monday February 22, an SMM survey showed.

Social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, expanded 126,000 mt during the Chinese New Year holiday to 901,000 mt as of February 18, and stocks in Wuxi, Nanhai and Gongyi mainly contributed to the increase.
