Russia launched a group of Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones against Ukraine on the evening of Dec. 3, leading to a risk of drone strikes in Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts, Ukraine's Air Force reported.
According to Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat, carbon is "an absorbing material for the radar signal." Ihnat added that the black color is supposed to make it harder for Ukrainian soldiers to identify and shoot down the drones in the night sky.
Satellite imagery shows that a Russian factory that will build Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones is progressing, the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) reported on Nov. 13.
Numerous explosions were heard in the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa on Sunday evening as Russia launched a wave of attacks in southern Ukraine, Ukrainian media Suspilne reported on Nov. 5.
