At a special called meeting on March 1, three members of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections had criticisms for the flurry of legislation past and present coming from the state legislature aimed at changing how counties conduct elections and how departments can be funded.
Kelly Loeffler, the former Republican senator from Georgia and current chair of Greater Georgia, recently called for an investigation into a grant received by the DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections office.
Executive Director Keisha Smith reported at the DeKalb Board of Elections meeting on Jan. 27 that the DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections office had been designated a Center for Election Excellence by the newly formed US Alliance for Election Excellence.
Bills under consideration at the Gold Dome this session would change voting procedures across the state. The bills could reverse, or reinforce, current laws on how and where Georgians vote.
