Recap: Westbrook’s 21 rebounds and 24 assists lead Wizards to 154-141 victory over the Pacers Share this story Photo by Ned Dishman/NBAE via Getty Images The final margin was a deceptively close 13 points, but the outcome was never in doubt during the second half, and the Wizards cruised to a 154-141 win over the Indiana Pacers. The victory pulled the Wizards to within a half game of the Pacers for 9th in the East, which would give Washington homecourt advantage in the league’s play-in tour...

Westbrook, Gafford lead Wizards in narrow loss to the Mavericks Share this story Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports Truth be told, the Wizards didn’t have much business even being in the game they ultimately lost to the Dallas Mavericks by one point. They defended poorly throughout — the Mavericks had a 63.8% effective field goal percentage and just 11 turnovers — and for the most part played with the kind of road-weary energy that comes on the second night of a road-road back-to-back. They wer...

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports The Washington Wizards’ 122–93 win versus the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night started with a minute and a half of misses for the visitors, a trend ended by Bradley Beal (19 points on 8-for-24 shooting) on a put-back. Russell Westbrook logged a quick two rebounds and two assists, but Cavs guard Darius Garland picked up where he left off on Sunday, draining an early three. An 8–2 Cleveland run forced Wizards Head Coach Scott Brooks to call a timeout at the...

Golden State’s Stephen Curry, whose team did not play, reclaimed the league scoring lead over Beal 31.3 points per game to 31.1. Collin Sexton scored 22 points but had a career-high eight turnovers for Cleveland in his return from a three-game absence with a concussion. Cedi Osman had 14 points and Darius Garland had 12 before leaving with a left ankle injury in the third quarter. Kevin Love did not attempt a shot and went scoreless in 22 minutes for the Cavaliers, who have lost five straight...

Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images The Washington Wizards crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers — one of the NBA’s doormats — by 29 points last night. Stomp wins can be more than a feel-good night where the starters get some rest and the scrubs get to frolic. Those big wins are a better signal of a team’s relative strength than its record in close games. Now, the Wizards are just 5-8 in games decided by 20 points or more this season so don’t go too crazy. But they’re 3-1 in stomp games s...

With 10 games left, the Wizards (28-34) hold a two-game lead over the Toronto Raptors (26-36) and Chicago Bulls (26-36) for the last spot in the NBA's upcoming play-in tournament. That puts Washington in control of the race, especially given that the Wizards have the easiest remaining schedule of the Bulls, Raptors, and even the Indiana Pacers, the team a game-and-a-half in front of them for ninth.
