Lafreniere scores in OT to give Rangers 2-1 win over Avalanche

Alexis Lafreniere scored 1:53 into overtime and the New York Rangers rallied to beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 on Monday night. Artemi Panarin also scored and Jonathan Quick stopped 31 shots to help the Rangers get their second straight win and their 15th comeback win this season. Nathan MacKinnon scored for the Avalanche, who had won three straight.

Pinto scores 1st of season, Senators bury Canadiens 4-1

Shane Pinto scored his first goal of the season as the Ottawa Senators beat the Montreal Canadiens for the second time in six days, 4-1 on Tuesday night. Pinto was playing in just his second game since serving a 41-game suspension for activities related to sports wagering and signing a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Senators. “That’s Shane,” said Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson, who also played a season with Pinto at North Dakota in 2020-21.

Two days after being embarrassed in Philadelphia with one of their worst losses of the season, the Dallas Stars got back on track with an impressive performance against the New Jersey Devils. Roope Hintz scored twice in a three-goal second period and Scott Wedgewood made 29 saves against his former teammates to lead the Stars to a 6-2 victory over the Devils on Saturday night. The win followed a 5-1 loss to Philadelphia in a contest the Flyers outshot Dallas 43-15.

Pettersson and Hoglander each score twice as Canucks down Rangers 6-3

Elias Pettersson and Nils Hoglander each scored twice, Thatcher Demko made 39 saves and the Vancouver Canucks defeated the New York Rangers 6-3 on Monday night in battle of first-place teams. JT Miller and Brock Boeser also scored goals while Pettersson, Boeser and Filip Hronek had two assists apiece for Vancouver, which won for the third time in four games.
