the air. if we break it down, we know that mitch mcconnell took to the senate floor today. he basically said, this isn t about republicans. we re out of it. this is about democrats and the president so if we look at that, the democrats and the president, the mind set is that the vice president is here meeting with chuck schumer moments ago, a quick meeting. i want to read you a meeting. the vice president came in and made an offer. unfortunately, we re still very far apart so that does not sound like two people, who groups who will make a deal any time soon. but in addition to that, this meeting came after chuck schumer really weighed into the wall. he said no bill would ever pass in the senate ever, ever, if it mentions a plan for the wall so where is the president? is he going to blink? well, any indication from my inbox is no i got a fundraising e-mail that title was help build the wall. so this could go on for a very
republicans are mad at me. i ll be fine on this come november. and they re thinking about this isn t about republicans on capitol hill. we know where they stand. they re not going to do anything to try to und cut the president s authority here. this is about the retaliation, playing chicken, whatever you want to call it, is something they re engaged in for the long run, and they re not going to be deterred by any distractions. this is something they believe is a fight they not only want to engage in, but a fight that anybody else who sticks to trade issues, people who have been involved in these issues for a
vocal about their displeasure here. that s a healthy sign this has risen above the normal bickers because this isn t about republicans and democrats. it s about the people who gave every one of us our freedom. they deserve the first fruits and we should make sure we honor that. should there be criminal investigations for the fraudulent recordkeeping? if it leads to that, sure, but i think we need to presume that it may not be criminal, but it may be and if it turns out that people acted in a way that denied the rights of veterans to what they deserved and they fraudulently made up records, then yeah, that s criminal prosecution, people need to go to jail for that. that needs to be a clear example to others that you can t abuse the nation s most honored heroes and get away with it. you shouldn t be able to fraudulently abuse any american taxpayer for that matter.
u.s. leadership around the world over the last year, eight months. so kind of think of this speech as everything the president has been trying to say over the last year and hasn t been able to because of the distractions from edward snowden, from ukraine, from syria. and so this is meant to reset that narrative. he was in afghanistan over the weekend. announced the troop levels. he s going to be going to europe next week as well to continue this messaging. there s been a lot of criticism of the president s foreign policy and the white house s push back often is use troops or so military force or send military equipment into syria, do it hear, do it there. their argument is done, that was done in the bush years that is unreali unrealistic. there s a group of republicans particularly in the senate where the president is never going to be able to convince them. never going to believe able to convince them. we ll see if the president mentioned the va scandal.
