Too much. >> you are saying the asylum seekers should seek asylum in mexico and not the united states. >> i think we should seek their safety. i think we cant solve the problems of the entire globe and we have to work together, and it makes sense for the united states of america. >> yes or no, do you support the changes this week for asylum seekers? >> am focused on getting a piece of legislation done that addresses this very issue. >> i dontand why you dont think thats a relevant question to an...

Know that democratic votes will be required to pass the budget bill and keep the government open before the end of the week. why not use that lenverage? what do your democratic colleagues say to the case why shouldnt the democrats insist that this kind of protection, this kind of prevention as you described it be inserted into the bill in order to get the democratic votes it needs to pass? >> we explored every option to find a way to move forward with the special counsel bill. at this point, i t...

Responsibility for what i knew about. i exercised my due diligence. ive given amazing leadership to this agency. of course i wont resign. >> bret: there are calls now, including the florida house speaker, for the broward county sheriff to resign. what about this, steve? >> he has not given amazing leadership. hes been pretty much the opposite of what you would expect of a leader in a time of crisis. there were failures again and again, not just in the last few minutes, not just in the heat of th...

You either choose the d.r.e.a.m.ers or you choose the chip hits. no, we support all of that. america can take care of all of its children. >> a little bit of washington speak there, but chip is the childrens health program which is a bipartisan program that has deep bipartisan support, and the republicans did put up money for that for six years, i believe? the resolution funded that program which in some states are are out of money. the republicans put that in the original bill saying, here, dem...

Governor rosoyo, and his people have been very impressive as it the work of the first responders, the fema workers and others on the ground, but they have lacked the resources that are needed. and the latest tax measure actually treats puerto rico as if it were a foreign country. the facts on the ground are half the island is without electricity. and a lot of the island lack potable drinking water. the schools are are stistill sh. the roads, some of them, are impassable, and they are on the brin...

Better than that, putting it legislatively, in concrete, to protect bob mueller. so i think its to send a signal flare, a warning shot. >> republicans do seem to be slow walking any possible legislation on that. congressman swalwell, thank you for joining us. >> my pleasure. there was one person absent from the tax bill celebration at the white house today, senator susan collins, even though she voted for it. now were learning about the promises that got her to "yes," promises made and broken....

Environmental policy, in immigration policy. i mean, this is where the executive gets a lot of blow back from people who say accurately you cant win it legislatively, use what power you have thats unchecked to try to chip away at it. i think theres no question. thats what the president is trying to do here, as jeffrey says, when he has to chance to name his own director, he will name somebody that will walk in and say i dont want the core function of this agency to prevail. i think to take this ...

Senator collins from maine voted if are this. its popular with the american public. the republicans in the senate dont want to vote. since they dont have the votes or even the courage to do this in a legislative way, this is a way to sabotage the agency and put them in there, the budget director who is a nice fellow and opposed to the whole notion of consumer protection and shut it down even though you cant change it legislatively. >> perhaps anticipating this, richard said first he wanted to sh...

Couldnt fire him. to complete that-year term, you have that process go forward. by the way, the key thing is this. mick mull vainy is supposed to be now a little busy. he has a government to fund. we have a government shut down facing us. you take this budget director who hates the agency and has other things to do and put him in charge is a sign of contempt that the trump administration and the anger had itself and the notion we would have shn omeone protect the average citizen. nothing dispute...

Operations and what it should promote in terms of consumer protection. so i do think theres a risk that we are going to see it, as errol said, hollowed out under the trump administration, likely to the point that it would just be obsolete, that it wouldnt be the same agency it was under the obama administration. and then the president could always make the argument that, well, this agency isnt doing anything and we should probably just repeal it legislatively. >> abby, i want to move on with you...
