Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM) rolls out the first Tata badged car from its new plant in Sanand, Gujarat, which was acquired from Ford India last year. The new facility has a manufacturing capacity of 300,000 units per annum, scalable to 420,000 units per annum. It is Tata Motors second plant in Gujarat to manufacture internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) models.

The Sanand plant was acquired from Ford India in 2023 with the intent to build ICE and electric vehicles with an installed capacity of 300,000 units per annum.

Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has announced that the company is close to completing a deal for a semiconductor fabrication unit in Gujarats Dholera. The commissioning of the unit is expected to begin in 2024. "We are in the final stages of negotiations and plan to start work by 2024," said Chandrasekaran during a summit. He emphasized Tatas dedication to enhancing the technological infrastructure in the region.

Speaking at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit here, he said the group is about to start a 20 GW gigafactory for manufacturing lithium ion batteries in Sanand in two months.
