this is the argument that we ve heard more democrats making since it came out that this guy has mental problems and he s not really a follower of the right or left he s a troubled young man. they ve shifted to, it is an opportunity to call for the dialing back of the rhetoric. fair point? reporter: i ll tell you something, what they are doing is speaking in code, and actually it s not very subtle code. they mean silencing, dismissing the voices out there, whether it s on talk radio or fox news or the editorial page of the wall street journal that has disagreed with liberal, democrat policies, not just under this president and the last congress, but under bill clinton. remember we heard the same thing come out of his mouth after the 1995 oklahoma city bombing that took 168 lives. bill clinton then tagged it on rush limbaugh, talk radio, conservative voices out there for ratcheting up the political slime math.
