Trade between the Western Cape and UK is still positive

Western Cape farmworkers say the Covid-19 pandemic has made their already difficult situation worse, as unemployment and gender-based violence rises in the community.

Provincial veterinary services will be offering free rabies vaccination in Strand after the latest case was detected in the area.

The Western Cape Department of Agriculture's veterinary services held a two-day, rabies vaccination drive in the Strand area.

According to his latest report on jobs and exports in the Western Cape, the Western Department of Agriculture’s agricultural economist, Tshepo Morokong, notes that the Western Cape exported R78.68 billion worth of combined agricultural and agri-processing products in 2020. This is good news, says Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer.

In response to the Western Cape Government’s undertaking to create safer communities, the Western Cape Department of Agriculture has established a rural safety desk and a rural safety monitoring dashboard.

Mass vaccination campaigns were launched this week after a confirmed case of the deadly rabies virus was recorded in the Helderberg mere days after World Rabies Day (Tuesday 28 September).

The Rural and Farmworkers Development Organisation has called for the Western Cape Department of Agriculture (WCDoA) to also establish a rural safety desk and safety monitoring dashboard for poor farmers.

Western Cape residents have been urged to be extra cautious with their pets after yet another rabies case was detected - this time in Gordon's Bay.

The Western Cape Department of Agriculture has established a Rural Safety Desk and a Rural Safety Monitoring Dashboard to monitor incidents reported "within the agricultural environment".
