Police Minister Bheki Cele has yet again snuffed out the DA's hopes to have the powers of the police devolved to the Western Cape government.



The DA says the new Provincial Powers Bill will not separate the Western Cape from the rest of South Africa but from an ANC failed state. It will likely have little concrete effect other than to stir up opposition. 

The DA says it wants national government to give capable provinces and municipalities decision-making powers over policing, public transport and trade, among other things.

The DA in the Western Cape is rushing to implement its Provincial Powers Bill before next year's national elections.
