Earlier in the morning, police had posted on X that a gunfight had started in Hathlanga village of Uri after a joint team of security forces launched a search operation in the area.
The operation comes two days after the Army and the police had apprehended three local militants in a joint operation near the LoC in Poonch district and seized arms, ammunition, explosives and narcotics from them.
