Deshaun Watson returned to practice on Wednesday in a limited capacity as the Browns began the process of preparing for Sunday's game against Arizona.

Pete Carroll cares about stats that accentuate two areas — ones that highlight that his defense is playing well and ones that show his team is excelling as the game progresses, especially in the fourth quarter. Combine those two aspects, and you get a very happy Seattle Seahawks coach. In the past four games, Seattle’s defense has allowed a total of nine second-half points and zero touchdowns.

The Browns did nothing at the NFL trade deadline to help them this season. While waiting for Deshaun Watson's shoulder to heal, Cleveland decided not to add another QB as insurance and made just one significant move Tuesday — sending wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions for a sixth-round draft pick in 2025. Peoples-Jones, who had 61 catches last season, has been less of a factor in Cleveland's offense in 2023, his final year under contract.

Geno Smith threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 38 seconds left, and the Seattle Seahawks rallied for a 24-20 win over the Cleveland Browns after blowing an early 14-point lead on Sunday. After struggling for long stretches against the best defense in the NFL, Smith was sensational on Seattle’s final drive. Seattle (5-2) gave itself a chance by intercepting Cleveland quarterback P.J. Walker near midfield with 1:57 remaining.

P.J. Walker had a chance to put away a second straight road victory for the Browns. A completed pass would have given Cleveland a new set of downs with less than two minutes remaining. When Walker's pass deflected off the helmet of blitzing Seattle safety Jamal Adams, the Cleveland quarterback knew it was trouble.

Kevin Stefanski trusted his quarterback. With a chance to possibly seal a gritty win in Seattle on Sunday, Cleveland's coach turned to his starter — his franchise QB was standing on the sideline in street clothes nearby — to make the right play in the game's biggest moment. Stefanski had other, safer options.

When the Seattle Seahawks announced this would be the week fans would get their wish with long-anticipated throwback uniforms making their debut, it seemed a way to build some hype and attention around a midseason matchup that might lack some excitement. As it turns out, the Seahawks are grabbing at some nostalgia during the week of what’s become an important game for Seattle and Cleveland. Both the Seahawks and Browns sit at 4-2.

Bagent threw more TD passes than any QB at any NCAA level ever, and prompts a Tony Romo comparison from Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy. Still, his story is pretty unexpected. Here's why.

Cleveland Browns starting running back Jerome Ford made a surprise return to practice Friday after missing time earlier this week with a sprained right ankle suffered in last week's win at Indianapolis. Ford, who has had to pick up the slack with star Nick Chubb out with a season-ending knee injury, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Seattle. Ford had been expected to miss at least one game.

Sam Farmer makes his picks and predictions for Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season, starting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Buffalo Bills.
