After making the Pro Bowl in his debut season with the Lions, punter Jack Fox is focused on improving his game this offseason.

"Im definitely focused on building on (this season)," Fox said earlier this week. "I think we had a good year on the punt team, but I think I left a few yards out there and I think I left some meat on the bone. Theres a bunch of different aspects of punting that I have plenty of room to get better at and that’s kind of my focus this offseason." The Lions, who finished 5-11 and have the seventh pick in Aprils NFL draft, have not had an All-Pro selection since cornerback Darius Slay and return ...

Jan 8, 2021 The Associated Press announced the NFL All-Pro teams for the 2020 season Friday and the 50 voters on the panel — of which I am one — made one thing crystal clear: To make the first team on either offense or defense, it’s best to be on a playoff team. Of the 11 offensive players named to the first team, none were with a franchise that failed to quality for the postseason. The first-team defense included three: Cardinals safety Budda Baker; San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Wa...

Copied! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will make their second straight road trip – and last of the regular season – in Week 16, and in many respects the opponent waiting on the other end is similar to the one they just faced in Atlanta. Like the Falcons, the Detroit Lions are playing for an interim head coach, with Darrell Bevell in charge since the November 28 dismissal of Matt Patricia. Like Atlanta, the Lions immediately won their first game for their new coach, though a rash of inju...

Leave it to the Detroit Lions to make big news because of a special teams switch.  Lions leadership is being criticized by fans and now by players for its firing of Brayden Coombs as special teams coordinator.  Coombs, brought on this season by now-removed coach Matt Patricia, was relieved of his duties Monday after a failed fake punt in Sundays loss to the Tennesee Titans.  Reports are that Coombs, who spent 10 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, was not a cultural fit for the organizati...

] In 2014, when the Lions went 11-5 and had one of the best defenses in the NFL, they had five Pro Bowl selections: Calvin Johnson, Glover Quin, Matthew Stafford, Ndamukong Suh and Golden Tate. He left the Lions with a major rebuild to do on defense, but took three Pro Bowlers in his five drafts — Ragnow, Hockenson and receiver Kenny Golladay, who went as an alternate after leading the NFL in touchdown catches last season — and signed Fox late last season as a street free agent. Golladay ...
