Is Troy Polamalu the only member of those legendary Steelers defenses from the 2000s who will make the Hall of Fame? Probably, but it doesn’t make those defense any less legendary.

Handout Photo-USA TODAY Sports There are a couple of things that immediately jump out when watching film of Steelers rookie ILB Devodrick "Buddy" Johnson during his collegiate career at Texas A&M. First off, Johnson provided admirable leadership for the Aggies defense by setting the physicality tone for his often overmatched unit in the SEC. The Aggies defense was much stronger as a unit than the sum of their parts would seem to suggest possible. His performances could best be described as cont...

For example, guard David DeCastro was issued No. 66 immediately after being selected in the first round by the Steelers in the 2012 NFL Draft. I don’t remember there being a whole lot of buzz over this rookie taking the number of legendary guard, Alan Faneca. I realize this was five years after Fa...

The Loudermilkk Threadd Okay, so maybe I just missed it, but it seems like somehoww fans havent fully takenn holdd of this Loudermilk phenomenonn yet. I know youre stunned, but this is where champions stand up and are counted. Bli...

Labriola on grades, draft as theater, 1974 May 07, 2021 at 06:53 AM Ready or not, here it comes: • Finally, mock draft season is over, but the bad news accompaniment to that good news is its now grading the draft season. Mock drafts may be pointless, but putting a grade on a teams draft 15 minutes after its over adds a layer of meaningless to the pointlessness. • What makes these somewhat humorous is the same people who do the mock drafts then come back with...

ANSWER: The players name was Will Wolford, and the Steelers signed him as an unrestricted free agent during the 1996 offseason. Wolford had been a left tackle during his career with Buffalo and then Indianapolis, but the Steelers told him they were signing him to pl...

Lets get to it: EDITORS NOTE: In what has become an annual occurrence, I again provide what I hope serves as a cautionary tale for fans who have spent the last couple of days consuming the grades/critiques written in the immediate aftermath of the 2021 NFL Draft. In 1974, the NFL Draft was a two-day event, with the first five rounds being picked on the first day with the final 12 rounds picked the following day. What the Steelers accomplished on those two days in 1974 deserves to be recogni...
