The annual undergraduate tuition for CSU will increase from the current $5,742 to $6,084 in the 2024-25 school year.

Tuition for California State University students will increase by 6% annually for five years beginning in 2024-25 under a plan approved Wednesday by the university's Board of Trustees.

"I know it's tough to do this. We don't like it, and it's difficult," said Jack McGrory, a member of the CSU board of trustees. "But we've got to make the numbers work, and we've got to do something long-term that makes sense, and continues the quality of education that we have on these 23 campuses."

CSU's desperate need for more cash to operate won out over student and faculty pleas not to raise tuition. A 6% hike goes into effect in 2024.
