Six victims are presumed dead after a container ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore and caused it to collapse. Updates on the search.

The bodies of two of the six workers presumed dead after a bridge collapse in Baltimore have been found.

The owner of Brawner Builders said the company is “in mourning" over the loss of employees who were working on Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed early Tuesday after a container ship lost power and rammed into one of its support pillars.

After the cargo ship Dali lost power early Tuesday, there were precious few minutes to act.

The collision and subsequent collapse of the bridge swallowed up seven road workers and an inspector who could not be alerted and pulled off the bridge in time; two were pulled alive out of the water, but four others are still missing and presumed dead.

Federal law has allowed some employers to pay disabled workers well below the federal minimum wage. Some states are trying to move away from the practice.
