Quarterback Len Dawson, whose unmistakable swagger in helping the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl title died Wednesday. He was 87.

Whether it was in the huddle during the early days of the AFL or behind the microphone as the NFL grew into the behemoth it is today, Len Dawson carried himself with an unmistakable swagger and self-assurance that earned him the well-worn nickname "Lenny the Cool."

The quarterback won Super Bowl IV with the Kansas City Chiefs and had a long career in television and radio. He is one of three in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player and a broadcaster.

Dawson spent several decades working on local TV broadcast while also doing color analysis for NBC and hosting HBO's iconic “Inside the NFL.”
