wonderful our people came together here and helped everybody out. and got them out of there. fed us, clothed us. and they gave us phones, too, they gave everybody a phone so we could contact our loved ones. i m just overwhelmed that they were so helpful. and all of the groups that came in, people that came together to feed us, clothe us, just make sure everybody is okay. i only saw one person crying, we were so busy. we were just so busy, we had to take care of everybody. jackie, we re glad you re okay. i am, too, dear. i m glad the children are okay. i m glad everybody s okay. thank you, jackie. and keep us posted, okay? i sure will. god bless you, dear. god bless you, and all of those there in california who are dealing with this. when we come back, we ll turn back to politics.
northeast of paradise, so it s away from city centers, laying down in canyon areas. the winds could change. our prayers continue to be with all of those affected by this. just to see the charred remains and think about all of the pictures and all of the memories being destroyed by fires there in california. steve, thanks. you be careful. a chico, california, mother, a mother named jackie gale forced from her home from those flames. he was taken in by her daughter who found her at a local church. jackie is there. you see her there on the screen. jackie, can you tell us about the moment you knew you had to get out of that house? i really didn t know there was a fire until i smelled smoke. and i went outside and the neighbor was saying what s burning. and then somebody came to the door and said you got to get out right now.
wouldn t be it s okay. i know. we wouldn t have been as well as we are. it seemed like we turned around so many times because the fire blocked the road. and we were seeing deer and other animals on fire. that was very hard. and, jackie, are you with your daughter now? yes, i am. yes, i am. she used to live in paradise. and she moved out how long ago? years. years ago. thank god she s up here. but i ll tell you, the firefighters, i can t believe how wonderful everybody came together. nobody was screaming and crying. we were all helping one another. and they evacuated us to the church in chico. and i just can t get over how
