A Panama City man who pleaded no contest to burglary and grand theft of a motor vehicle says he was beaten by a Jackson County Sheriff's deputy after he surrendered.

Show Transcript UPDATE ON HIS INJURED ANKLE. A DEPUTY IS FACING FELONY ASSAULT CHARGES FOR SHOOTING A WOMAN IN WESTPORT. LARA: EMILY IS DIGGING INTO THIS AND JOINS US WITH THE BREAKING DETAILS. EMILY: THEY ARE CHARGED WITH FELONY ASSAULT AND ARMED CRIMINAL ACTION AFTER SHE SHOT A WOMAN IN THE BACK WHILE TRYING TO ARREST HER. THOSE CHARGES WERE ANNOUNCED TODAY BY THE JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR. WE HAVE VIDEOS OF WHEN THE SHOOTING HAPPENED. DEPUTY SAW TWO PEOPLE ON A BIRD SCOOTER DRIVING THE WRONG WAY IN TRAFFIC. THEY GOT THE DRIVER IN CUSTODY, BUT THE SECOND PERSON RAN OFF. EVENTUALLY THE DEPUTY FOUND HER, GRABBED HER HAIR AND PULLED HER TO THE GROUND BEF
