A second set of arrests have been made in connection to a theft ring in southwestern Greene County last week. The Greene Prairie Press reports that part-time Carrollton Police Officer Jesse Faul was patrolling near the Carrollton Pool on Friday, January 22nd at approximately 2:30AM when he saw suspicious activity from two vehicles around the park by the pool. Two subjects abandoned an alleged stolen jeep in the middle of the road and fled in a nearby parked white sedan.
According to police reports, Faul pursued the vehicle into Jersey County. Faul had radioed ahead to Jersey County Sheriff’s Deputies about the pursuit. Jersey County Sheriff’s Deputies had placed stop sticks near the north end of Jerseyville to help conclude the pursuit. • Richard B. Jackson, 31, of 1015 N. Church St. was booked into the Morgan County jail at 2 a.m. Tuesday on charges of leaving the scene or failing to report an accident and resisting a peace officer. Police said he refused to identify himself and threw his wallet away from officers.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to area residents after a recent arrest in Hardin. On December 1
st, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department received multiple reports of vehicle burglaries and a motor vehicle theft in the Village of Hardin. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services. Throughout the following week, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office conducted extra patrol in an attempt to thwart any future crimes.
