Non-spherical exoplanet WASP-103b is raising questions for the European Space Agency about how planets are formed and how stellar physics keep them in orbit.

Astronomers at the European Space Agency have discovered an oblong-shaped planet that resembles a potato.

Anything is possible. Well, truly, as it is hard to imagine a planet, which resembles a potato. But astronomers at the European Space Agency have actually found one.   These experts have discovered an oblong-shaped planet, which is called WASP-103b.    It seems to be the first planet, which "has a deformed shape more like that of a rugby ball than a sphere," the ESA said on Tuesday.

Data acquired by the Hubble Space Telescope indicates that planets arent strictly spherical and that some can come in weird forms.

It's the first clearly deformed planet outside the solar system that we know thus far.
