Blue singer Lee Ryan has avoided a jail term for drunkenly assaulting a black female flight attendant last year.

After being refused more alcohol on the plane and told to return to his seat, Ryan made comments about the looks of a flight attendant.

Ryan, 40, was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence after attacking Leah Gordon and behaving in an abusive way towards her on July 31 last year.
