In the rematch of last season’s semi-final, Brescia and Ferencvaros produced another thriller ending in an 8-8 draw.

The rematch of last season's semi-final between Ferencvaros and Brescia is among the highlights of the opening day in the Champions League main round.

The only open battle on Wednesday is the clash of Crvena Zvezda and Savona in Belgrade – it also decides if Serbia or Italy has three teams in the elite.

Serbia will have three teams in the upcoming season of the Champions League as Crvena Zvezda held on for a draw against Italy’s Savona.

Three of the four duels produced decisive victories, Jadran Split and OSC Budapest were rolling in the respective national derbies.

The three-stage qualifying process is set to reach its climax as the winners of the four play-off matches will join the Champions League field.

Italian entrants Palermo and Ortigia reached the quarter-finals, as did Hungary’s BVSC and Spain’s Sabadell.

Two great derbies will be played in the play-off round of the Champions League qualifications, one with the Croatian and one with the Hungarian teams.

Only the top two teams in the respective groups will advance in both the Champions League and Euro Cup.
