UDUPI: Nationwide Covid-19 vaccination programme that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch on January 16 will see 22,230 health workers in the district get the vaccine shot in the first phase getting underway on Saturday.
These include 5,712 health workers in the government health set up and rest in the private sector. The district on Thursday received 12,000 doses of Covishield vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha who received the first batch of vaccine along with DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda told reporters that vaccination will be held in six centres. UDUPI: Rural development and panchayati raj department will opt for solar energy solutions to power gram panchayat offices in Karnataka. Tenders have been finalized for this ambitious project that will be implemented at a cost of Rs 300 crore in the next two years.
Chief executive officers of zilla panchayats may choose from among the empanelled agencies to implement the project in gram panchayats in their respective districts.
