KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 28 individuals, including four Chinese nationals, in a raid on an illegal gambling syndicate s call centre located at a luxury apartment in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) raided the apartment at Jalan Stonor at about 4pm on Wednesday (July 28).
Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief Asst Comm Nasri Mansor said police raided three units at the apartment used as call centres. We detained 20 local men, four local women and four Chinese nationals – three women and a man – during the raids. Those detained were aged between 18 and 45. We seized an array of items including 35 mobile phones, eight laptops and 15 computers from the apartments, he said when contacted on Thursday (July 29).
