ILOILO CITY, April 30 (PIA) – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) said that the implementation of the P11.2-billion Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) is still ahead of its target.
In a virtual press conference held April 29, Engr. Jonel Borres, acting project manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) of JRMP II , said that the implementation of Iloilo’s biggest irrigation development project continues to gain momentum.
“We are hopeful that we can finish the project by the year 2023,” Borres said.
The over-all physical accomplishment of JRMP II, considering both Government of the Philippines (GOP) and Loan Proceed (LP) components, is recorded at 37.83 percent, as of first quarter of 2021.

Engr. Jonel Borres, NIA-6 regional manager, said the P11.2-billion dam in Calinog town can start to supply water by first quarter of 2024.
This is as NIA-6 has set to complete the construction of the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project (JRMP-II) by 2023.
Borres explained in an online press conference that the three separate dams and reservoirs will have to wait for at least a year to store water.

The NIA said the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project-Stage II (JRMP-II) has surpassed its quarterly target for the first quarter of 2021 by 6.11 percent.
“At this rate, NIA is optimistic that the project will be completed as planned by 2023,” said Steve Cordero, JRMP-II spokesperson.
Works include the foundation for the 109-meter Jalaur High Dam, the biggest of the three dams that will be built under JRMP-II.

A press report from the JRMP II Public Relations Team, citing the Project Management Office, said that for the first quarter of 2021, the over-all physical accomplishment of JRMP II, considering both Government of the Philippines (GOP) and Loan Proceed (LP) components, is recorded at 37.83 percent.
According to the report, this is 6.11 percent more than its target for the same quarter which is 31.72 percent.
This P11.2-billion project development, said the report, supports the battle cry of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – as chief implementing agency, for a continued implementation of essential irrigation development projects and programs amidst the pandemic with the official tagline #TuloyAngDaloyNIA.
