In first major act as head of CT s community colleges, Maduko shakes up system s leadership structure

The new head of the state’s community colleges is shaking up the top executive ranks of the higher-education system. CT State Community College President John Maduko, who was named to his role in April and now oversees the 12 community colleges that are in the process of merging, is scrapping the regional president model he inherited and re-assigning those leaders to new systemwide executive roles. The three current regional presidents will become executive vice presidents of functional areas within the entire community college system.

Schools Receive Funding for Next Generation Manufacturing Center

HARTFORD — Gov. Ned Lamont has announced that Tunxis Community College and the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities College of Technology have received a $7.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to lead the nation’s only NSF National Center for Next Generation Manufacturing. The center will partner with leadership teams from Columbus State Community College in Ohio, College of the Canyons in California, Central Community College in Nebraska and Indian River State College in Florida, as well as collaborators from education, industry, government and private and public organizations throughout the U.S. to operationalize Industry 4.0 initiatives in Connecticut and throughout the nation.
