DOJ: Former UGA professor sentenced to 90 months in prison on child porn charges

ATHENS - A former University of Georgia professor who confessed to possessing child pornography received a federal prison sentence on Tuesday.
The U.S. Department of Justice said 39-year-old Athens man James Edward Monogan was sentenced to serve 90 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release and more than $40,000 in fines.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life. Taking Monogan off the streets means that his victims can start to heal, and he can no longer hurt our children or share those dreadful images and details with others, said Special Agent in Charge Katrina W.
