A dogwalker discovered a decomposed body in a stream and realised it was his lifelong friend who had been missing for three weeks, an inquest has heard.
Kieron Jones told the inquest into Jamie Perkins death how his son was on his shoulders when his dog ran into a hedge in Gilfach Goch, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Mr Perkins body was then found partially submerged in a stream in Bog Lane and covered with leaves, bracken and a speaker cover on November 1, 2017.
The last confirmed sighting of the 41-year-old had been on October 8.
South Wales Police launched a murder investigation following Mr Perkins death. Arrests were made but the murder remains unsolved.

A lifelong friend of a missing man has described how he found his body in a stream while on a walk with his family.
Kieron Jones told the inquest into Jamie Perkins death how his son was on his shoulders when he noticed his dog running into a hedge and looking at him in Gilfach Goch, Rhondda Cynon Taf. She d never done that before, so I went to take a look, Mr Jones said.

An inquest has been planned for a man whose suspected murder remains unsolved after three and a half years.
Jamie Perkins body was discovered in a culvert along an access road known as Bog Lane in Gilfach Goch on November 1, 2017, but his death is believed to have occurred three weeks earlier on October 8. Several people were arrested but nobody has ever been charged with his murder.
