We understand that two homes were affected. One home had the windows blown out and the other lost the garage door. We do not know if there are any injuries at this point. We have not been able to confirm with pg e. We know that fire crews are on scene and they are working quickly to pinch off these lines. You can smell an odor within a four block radius. A very strong smell. It is not the actual gas but it is the chemical they put in so that you know the gas leak is present. The water main break happened around 6 am this morning. Water was out to nearby residences up until 5 30 this afternoon. The pipe that broke was installed in the 1930 so it is part of that aging infrastructure. The work delayed drivers tonight and it could do the same tomorrow when asphault is being put down.
