Council scheme opens to help homeowners to install solar panels

This comes as part of the county council’s commitment to act on climate change and is one of three energy initiatives to reduce carbon. The Authority has partnered with iChoosr Ltd to bring the Solar Together Hampshire to homeowners and non-domestic small and medium-sized enterprises. Cllr Jan Warwick who is a former Winchester city councillor said: “The aim of establishing Solar Together Hampshire is to make sure residents feel confident they are paying the right price for a high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) installation from pre-vetted installers.

Virtual protest against Royaldown homes near Winchester postponed

The Save South Winchester campaign had originally planned to hold a socially distanced march around the site perimeter on Sunday January 24. It was then moved online but now has been put back to a date in February to coincide with the public consultation over the new Winchester Local Plan. Further details are yet to be released by campaign leaders Cllr David Killeen, chairman of Hursley Parish Council, and county councillor Jan Warwick.

Share Littleton Stud objected to the plans, claiming the dust and noise created would have affected the peace and tranquillity needed for horse breeding. However, the council planning officer recommended that the proposal be approved and civic chiefs said they faced a difficult decision.  After a three-hour Hampshire County Council meeting the plans were eventually rejected, with Littleton general manager David Bowe delighted by the decision.  David said: I don t think you can expect a planning result one way or the other but we were very happy it ruled in our favour. We were delighted, it was something that we had feared because the stud has been here since 1913 and we just expect to be left to do our business.

Royaldown: Planned protest against 5,000 homes moves online

Members of the Save South Winchester campaign had originally planned to hold a socially distanced march around the site perimeter on January 24. The aim was to plant 100 wild roses (the Hampshire rose) close to the site entrance near Down Farm off Port Lane, within walking distance of Compton Down, Oliver’s Battery and Hursley. Now, the event will be held virtually between noon and 1pm on the given date. Further details are yet to be released by campaign leaders Cllr David Killeen, chairman of Hursley Parish Council, and county councillor Jan Warwick.
