Thanksgiving day from 4 am to 6 pm for much of siouxland, including sioux city winter storm warning in effect thanksgiving day from 9 am to 9 pm for Harrison Shelby counties a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow will create some tricky turkey day travels, so be sure to keep a close eye on todays weather. If you must hit the roads, freezing rain early today will work its way eastward and eventually transition to light snow in and around sioux city later this morning with strong north winds which will cause some low visibilities. Because the freezing rain will last longer in southern siouxland, the ice accumululion will be greater with up to a quarterinch of ice expected, hence the winter storm warning for that area. As for snow accumulations, its still looking like most places will receive around 13 inches by the time the system exits the viewing area to the east by 78 oclock this evening.
