Shelley Robinson has experienced many ups and downs over
her daughter Ruby’s life. 18-year-old Ruby has Global
Developmental Delay and Autism, and Shelley had been worried
about her future for some time.
Leaving school was one
of those worries. She was concerned about how her daughter
would transition into the real world – a world filled with
many physical, social and attitudinal
obstacles.
Research shows that when people with
disabilities finish school, it can be incredibly challenging
to embed into communities, to find paid employment and make
money to enable self-worth and to live well.
Shelley
wanted to do something about this. She set up the Chrome

Itâs time for that annual spring fling in Hurricane(a cleaning day)as the community center has been closed for a year due to the pandemic, and the committee has designated Monday, April 12, as the day for volunteers to meet at 9:00 a.m. to work inside and also outside on the lawn. The center will begin rentals again on May 1, 2021 as you know rentals are the primary way that the community center has funds for the upkeep of the property. Donations are always welcomed if you care to contribute to the general fund. You may call 662-550-0340 to request a spot on the rental calendar or to leave a donation. So letâs participate in this spring event for our community center!
Community Foundation: Donors unite to combat homelessness

Jane Ford is the kind of person whose battery never seems to deplete.
To know her is to know kindness and compassion, and Ford matches that with an unrelenting persistence and drive to improve her community, particularly for those less fortunate.
“My life is enriched every time I can help others,” Ford said. “Real progress is determined by incremental, specific and attainable steps toward the final goal.”
Ford is a newly-appointed member of the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln’s Advisory Council and became familiar with the organization several years ago when she was exploring ways to honor the legacy of her late husband, organize her charitable giving and make a bigger impact on the issues she most cares about.
