A report from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the bald eagle population has quadrupled since 2009.

They re two of hundreds of bald-eagle watchers in the state of Missouri. It s just amazing when you see those little eaglets heads pop up and everybody s like, woo, look at that, Debbie Whitmore said.
Ever since laws and regulations were put in place which protect them from being bought and sold and also killed, America s bald eagle population has taken off.
According to a report from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the bald eagle population has quadrupled since 2009. It s estimated there are now more than 71,000 nesting pairs and more than 300,000 bald eagles in the lower 48 states.
RENSSELAER, Mo. â The Missouri Department of Conservation is calling all birders in the Show-Me State who know their birds by sight and sound.
MDC needs volunteers to assist with two vacant bird-observation routes in Missouri as part of the 2021 North American Breeding Bird Survey Thursday, May 27 to Wednesday, July 7. The two Missouri BBS routes that need volunteers are Rensselaer in Ralls County and Madison in Monroe County. Volunteers will need to conduct their survey one day during the May 27âJuly 7 survey period.
The BBS was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is back for 2021. BBS is a long-term, large-scale, international bird monitoring program that started in 1966. The purpose of the BBS is to track the status and trends of North American bird populations. Each year during mostly June â the height of the bird-breeding season for most of the U.S. â BBS volunteers collect bird-population data along roadside survey routes to help.
