Pandemic inspires shoreside âsocialsâ and fleeting art installation
TRENTON â âArt has become therapy,â Dan Stillman says.
Amid multiple bouts of quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mount Desert Island High Schoolâs longtime art teacher and artist got creative to find purpose and enjoyment, all the while providing entertainment and meaning to his communities at work and home.
Throughout the coronavirusâs course, Dan has been living with his girlfriend, Janet Higgins, in her âlittle red campâ tucked on Shady Nook Lane in Trenton. The cabin has been in the Higgins family for ages, he explained, calling his partner âeasily the third generation of local kidsâ to grace the neighborhoodâs beaches and camp roads.

Syracuse, N.Y. - A major event in Syracuse will not happen, again, this year, due to COVID 19.
The St. Patrick s Parade in Syracuse has been officially canceled.
The parade was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. This year s parade was scheduled for March 13 but organizers and local officials felt it is still too dangerous to hold an event like the parade. Next year s parade is scheduled for March 12.
Parade President Janet Higgins says she has a heavy heart but she is looking forward to 2022 for the biggest and best parade ever.
