Bexhill Army Cadet leaders jailed over sexual abuse of girl

Former Bexhill army cadet leaders Dennis Bowie and Alice McElhinney have been jailed for sexual abuse AN ARMY cadet leader sexually abused a girl in his troop after a Remembrance Sunday event marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. Lieutenant Dennis Bowie groomed the girl while he was a detachment commander of the army cadets in Bexhill. The married 49-year-old was in cahoots with Sergeant Alice McElhinney, 33, where they groomed the cadets and shared their perverted fantasies with one another. At Lewes Crown Court it was revealed Bowie had groped and kissed a 14-year-old girl.

Harry Bennett jailed for attack in Hastings town centre

Harry Bennett confronted the 70-year-old in Hastings town centre over claims of an incident involving his friends. The 20-year-old, who was drunk and had also been taking steroids, targeted Steven Murray as he walked home past Priory Meadow. Video footage showed Bennett punching him in the face, knocking him to the floor. He then rained down nine more blows as the pensioner lay prone on the floor. Then, with Mr Murray clearly unconscious, Bennett took a run-up and kicked him in the head. Mr Murray was left with blood in his hair, broken ribs, jaw and tooth damage and bruises.

Bognor Burger King road rage driver William Young in court

William Young saw red after he crashed his Audi A3 into another vehicle in Shripney Road, Bognor. The 22-year-old admitted to victim Mark Gilbert he was not paying attention, and the two went to the fast food restaurant car park to exchange details. Young became abusive and threatening and shouted: “There’s no f damage.” After returning to his vehicle he revved the engine then reversed over Mr Gilbert, who was standing by the driver’s door and was dragged under the wheel. Young then drove off over a grass verge and cycle lane, before abandoning his car and running away in a “moment of recklessness and stupidity”.
