A British plumber has been awarded $51,749 after being dismissed two weeks after arriving in New Zealand for a job. (File photo) During Wells’ first week of working with Millson Plumbing, concerns were raised regarding his skill level, the authority heard. There were doubts whether he would successfully gain a licence to continue working in New Zealand. On the Friday of the second week, Wells was called into a meeting with Stephen and Vicki Millson, directors and shareholders of Millson Plumbing, to discuss the performance concerns. Wells and the Millsons disagreed over what was said during the meeting. Wells said that after discussing his performance at work, Stephen Millson told him he could not see things working out.
