Police are investigating if the week-long search for J’Asiah Mitchell has come to a tragic end.

J’Asiah Mitchell went missing Aug. 17 after his father reported the toddler had been kidnapped.

One week after 2-year-old J'Asiah Mitchell was reported missing from his East Point home, police say the search for the missing toddler may have come to a tragic end.

This comes one week after a 2-year-old in DeKalb County was reported missing, eventually leading to a search by police in East Point.

FOX 5 has learned the father of missing 2-year-old J'Asiah Mitchell, Artavious North, is now being considered a person of interest in the case.

Police have named a Georgia man as a person of interest in the disappearance of his 2-year-old son, who has been missing nearly a week.

The child’s father, Artavious North, has since been arrested and charged with making a false statement.

DeKalb Police determined a kidnapping did not occur after J'Asiah was originally reported kidnapped by his father.

J'Asiah Mitchell has been missing since last week when his father reported a kidnapping that DeKalb Police determined never occurred.

Police in East Point said Monday that Artavious North was now considered a person of interest in the case of his missing toddler J'Asiah Mitchell.
