city council meeting last night when they discussed a resolution dealing with the recent port of oakland occupy protest. the port was shut down twice in the last two months because of scenes like this. the resolution would give the city council not the mayor any tool legally necessary to move or stop any future port shutdowns. what it does do is that it targets, uhm, the rights of of freedom of speech and the first amendment rights. that leaves our businesses questioning their confidence in oakland and only excuse me. [ yelling ] [ gavel ] excuses me! allow him to speak. reporter: you can see eye motions running high at that meeting last night. eventually the resolution was tabled after a split vote on whether or not the measure warranted an emergency vote. so it is going to be brought back up on january 17th here at a city council meeting. some of the supporters of the resolution said the port has told them that a lot of the major retailers have threatened to
