Evan Roskos was in a weird head space when he visited the set of Dr. Bird s Advice for Sad Poets, a major motion picture based on his young adult novel.
On the one hand, he was mourning the recent passing of his mom to cancer. She died shortly before he and his sister traveled to Florida to spend a day on the set of the film, set to be released on Jan. 12.
Yet at the same time, Roskos was giddy to see the quirky characters he d created and the important themes his novel explores take three-dimensional shape, with the help of an empathetic producer, sensitive director and major Hollywood stars.
