Everybody loves a good automotive comeback story. The Toyota GR Supra and Ford Bronco are great examples, but what about the relatively obscure and unknown brands? At the start of the year, Italian sports car manufacturer Bizzarrini announced its comeback car and, at around about the same time, the UK's Bristol Cars said that it would mark its own comeback with a Dodge-powered sports car.
Founded back in 1945, Bristol Cars was known for its luxury grand tourers. According to Autocar, the revival of Bristol Cars is now official and besides several continuation models, the company will launch a new battery-electric vehicle.

Just months after the 75-year-old British luxury and sports car maker Bristol was brought back from the dead after entering liquidation in 2020, the automaker is already looking far into the current decade with plans for a new EV, as well as plans to upgrade existing models.
Bristol Cars was an English manufacturer of hand-built luxury vehicles that was founded in 1945. The 75-year-old company was a low-volume manufacturer that was notoriously selective in its choice of clientele. However, the company entered liquidation in February 2020. Its rights and IP were acquired earlier this year by Jason Wharton, who plans to revive the brand.
Before they make the switch to EVs, Bristol will begin offering ‘remastered’ continuation versions of some of its most iconic models. Deliveries will start in 2022, with cars featuring exterior and interior upgrades. Under the hood, each car will be powered by a 6.4-liter Chrysler Hemi V8 coupled to an eight-speed ZF gearbox, with updated suspension and electrical components.
Bristol Cars has announced it will return to car-making in 2025 with an all-new pure-electric Bristol Buccaneer.
No details of the all-new Brit EV have been released, other than its launch date, but in the build-up to its return the 76-year-old brand has confirmed it will introduce ‘remastered’ versions of the Bristol Fighter, Speedster and 411 Series 8.
Among other changes, each car will be re-engineered with Chrysler’s more modern 6.4-litre HEMI V8 that’s combined with an advanced eight-speed transmission sourced from ZF.
Other changes are said to include overhauled suspension, electronics, updated interiors and mild exterior tweaks.
According to Bristol, the company will initially create just eight remastered cars priced from £495,000 ($A890,000) plus local taxes.
