INDIANA, (WTHI) - A group of first responders made it back home safely from Maui this past week. However, theyre not the only ones whove traveled back safely. One family

IN-TF1 said the team, comprised of 70 first responders and civilians from throughout central Indiana, will return in two groups on Monday and Tuesday.

"It was just mind-boggling that that much destruction happened that quick and people could not escape it."

A 70-member team from Indiana Task Force 1 has arrived on the island of Maui, Hawaii, after being activated as a Type 1 Urban Search & Rescue.

Indianapolis Fire Department Chief Jay Settergren is in Maui helping with search and rescue with the Indiana Task Force One.

Members of Indiana Task Force 1 are on the way to Maui to help with search and rescue efforts following last week's deadly wildfires.

At least 38 people have died since flash flooding swept through parts of eastern Kentucky.

Indiana Task Force One cleared 500 structures in eastern Kentucky on Saturday alone. They'll continue working from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until the mission's complete.
