In April 2018, Brazilian drummer Samuel Martinelli self-released an album called Crossing Paths, celebrating the relationship between Brazilian music and jazz. UNO Jazz at the Sandbar has returned for Spring 2021. OffBeat’s Best of the Beat winner for Best Emerging Artist, Mahmoud Chouki, is slated to play. James Sanders will shed some light on two late great violinists when he presents Dark Angels of the Violin: Jazz Legends Eddie South and Stuff Smith on March 15.
