The Kansas City Chiefs became the latest team to hand the New England Patriots a home loss in a season filled with them for coach Bill Belichick and this once-proud NFL franchise. With a pop icon who’s no stranger to performing before sold out crowds at Gillette Stadium looking on from a luxury suite, the Chiefs provided Taylor Swift and the throng of fans who attended Sunday’s game with plenty of reasons to cheer. The same could not be said for the Patriots, who struggled in the second half of a 27-17 loss that dropped them to 3-11 on the season.
Patriots linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley was inactive for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Bentley misses the game because of a hamstring injury, after playing in all nine of New England's previous games this season. Rookie Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is active after he had been listed as questionable and hadn't practiced because of a knee injury.
Despite the Patriots' 2-7 slump, coach Bill Belichick was in an unusually upbeat mood Friday as he hoped his New England team could enjoy the experience of playing against the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. Belichick and the Patriots have a 3-0 all-time record in regular-season international games — the last in 2017 — but haven't played in Germany. The team is coming off a 20-17 loss to the Washington Commanders last week.
After not starting J.C. Jackson this past Sunday, multiple reports indicate that the Patriots are not expected to bring the cornerback with them to Germany, where they will face the Colts.
