The city of Sioux Falls has reached another population milestone

This "riveting" sculpture won by a popular vote from 400 visitors and will become a permanent fixture downtown.

Now the time to receive and process a permit for major new housing or retail or other commercial development is eight weeks, double the normal time it took to do so just two years ago.

Sioux Falls has filed more than $1 billion in building permits so far in 2021, according to a news release from the City of Sioux Falls.

The hearings give city officials a chance to brief the council on their chunk of the $654.2 million budget proposed by Mayor Paul TenHaken.
