FRANKLIN Fire officials say a lighting strike sparked a blaze that significantly damaged a multifamily home at 71 North Park St. early Thursday morning.
The home was hit by lightning shortly before 4 a.m. as a storm blew through the region.
“They actually heard a loud bang,” Fire Chief James McLaughlin said of the four residents in the home. “It woke them up.”
One of the residents soon saw smoke coming from the roof and attic and called 911, said McLaughlin.
All four residents were able to escape; however, a cat died in the blaze, the chief said.
