NASA's moon rocket launch pad gets hit with lightning, causing concerns of whether or not it will still take off on Monday as scheduled. Officials reassured that the test flight will remain on track as the thunderstorm did not cause any damage to the launch pad or the capsule.

Despite lightning strikes at the Artemis launch pad Saturday, Monday's mission is still on track.

Tens of thousands of people gather in Cape Canaveral for launch of NASA’s Artemis mission to return humans to the moon.

Artemis marks the first time since the end of the Space Shuttle program that NASA has debuted a new flagship vehicle and system geared toward human spaceflight.

NASA’s new moon rocket remained on track to blast off on a crucial test flight Monday, despite a series of lightning strikes at the launch pad.

Saturday afternoon brought thunderstorms over Kennedy Space Center including several lightning strikes at the launch pad from where the Artemis I mission is scheduled to lift off today.

NASA on Aug. 28 was on schedule to begin fueling the SLS rocket for its inaugural flight test, targeted for liftoff at 8:33 a.m. EDT Aug. 29.
