Holdt, a freshman shot a 79. Royals' freshman Shams Jahangir-Arshad carded a 74 to sit in fourth place.
"Ruben Mendoza on the Canyon Course (second nine ) went birdie-par-birdie-birdie on the first four holes," said DP coach Kevin Ahlers. "He had a very consistent round on a very narrow course."
Michael Gentry of DP had two birdies and finished at 3-over 75.
Santa Barbara High's low scorer was sophomore Hudson Hatton with a 77.
